VNeTraffic - A Review of Vietnam's Intelligent Traffic Application

Main Features:

• The VNeTraffic application is operated under the copyright of the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, and is authorized by the Global Technology and Telecommunications Corporation, which directly supports national defense and security in accordance with Decision No. 1609/QĐ-TTg from the Prime Minister's office. This includes permissions to publish applications on the CH Play store as per authorization No. 0901/HĐUQ.
• Developed by the Traffic Police Department, VNeTraffic is based on a comprehensive traffic database aimed at providing vital traffic information and related conveniences to citizens, aligning with the national digital transformation strategy and modernizing the People's Police force.
• Designed specifically for Vietnamese citizens, VNeTraffic serves as an essential communication channel between the public and the traffic police, offering users a platform to report traffic conditions and violations as well as access information regarding accidents and penalty checks.
• This application allows users to track their reports, review their violation history, view auctioned license plates, and submit feedback effectively.
• Access Permissions: By using this application, users consent to grant permissions for accessing various functionalities including:
• • (1) Internet access from the user’s device.
  • (2) Camera access for scanning QR codes on ID cards to expedite the entry of essential citizen information.
  • (3) Access to photos, files, and media content on the device for storing images and files related to traffic reports submitted to authorities.
  • (4) GPS location access to determine user location when submitting traffic reports.
  • (5) Notifications sent to the user's device.
• Personal Information Collection: Users are required to provide personal details such as name, phone number, and identification card number when submitting reports about traffic conditions or violations. This is necessary to validate the identity of the informant. All data collection is done with user consent through input forms.
• Users are responsible for their ability to act legally when using and inputting information within the application.
• Privacy Protection: User data will be stored securely by the Traffic Police Department and used solely for purposes related to national digital transformation and supporting citizens. There will be no commercial use or invasion of privacy; user information will be protected according to legal regulations.
• Beyond these stated purposes, the development team will not collect or use user information for any other objectives nor disclose any information that could harm or violate user privacy rights under Vietnamese law or application policies.
• Location Data Collection: VNeTraffic will collect location data to facilitate proper reporting conditions for authorities. Users will be notified about this data collection, which remains subject to their decision without impacting application features.
